Stair stringer
With our stair stringer, building your own deck stairs becomes easy. Perfect for your garde, to the terrace, jetty, basement stairs or in the house. The concept is really simple. Just place each stair stringer with a maximum of 60 cm in between them. For a wide deck stairs you can use several stair stringers. Screw the treads on and your deck stairs are ready!

Standard stair stringer wood
The standard stringer is suitable for any regular staircase and available up to 7 steps high. 2 steps of each 145mm wide can be screwed onto the stair stringer, giving a depth of 29cm per step.
XL stair stringers made of wood with extra-deep steps
The XL stair stringer is suitable for making garden stairs with extra-deep steps, up to 39cm deep. Three 28x120mm planks are used for the steps. The angle of rise is smaller than with a standard wooden deck stairs, the rise per step is also lower, only 14cm. This makes the deck stairs easy to walk on and also suitable for people who are less mobile.
Steel stair stringers
With the galvanised stair stringer in steel, you can make garden stairs up to 5 steps high. These deck stairs can of course be extended by using support posts or a stair landing. You can use 2 planks with head size 28x145mm as stair treads. These planks can be of hardwood or softwood, that's your choice.
Stair stringers for indoor stairs
Altough our stair stringers have been designed for outdoor use, it is also possible to use them indoors. Perfectly suitable for stairs to a platform, or above your bed in order to creat some closet room under the bed for example, or to bridge a height difference between to levels, anyway, we have plenty of examples that we received from our customers.
However, when the stairs need to be the eyecatcher in your house, we do not think that our stair stringers are the most suitable you can find, the finish is less smooth, in this case we advice you to contact the local stairs company for indoor stairs. Right, way more expensive also. In case you wish to save money, you can of course use our stair stringers, tehnically not a problem, it just depends on your personal wishes and desires.
Stair stringers for basement stairs
A basement is in general quit humid. Therefore, it is not adviced to use a standard indoor stairs. Especially when there is contact with the humid ground surface, it will quickly rot away. For this situation, it is better to use wood that has been treated for outdoor use, like our wooden stair stringers. Our materials are perfectly suitable for building basement stairs. How do I place the stringer?
It happens quite often that we receive an angry Email, informing us that the dimensions of our stringers are not correct.
In that case, the customer has simply placed the stringer upside down, as you can see on the picture right here.
We've placed red marks where the step boards are supposed to be screwed on the stringers. All you have to do is turn them around so that everything suddenly becomes logical ;-)
Steep stairs
In case you wish very steep stairs, it is of course possible to simply turn the stringers upside down on purpose.
Might come in handy if you don(t have a lot of space available, or when you need steep stairs to a basement or a bunk bed.
What quality can you expect from us?
Something that frequently happens is that a crack forms between the stringer of the stringer and the triangular block glued on for each step. Many customers find this scary, they are afraid the block will break off. No fear, you don't see it, but this block is glued reinforced to the stringer with 2 wooden pins holding both parts together. Of the tens of thousands of stair stringers Vinuovo has now sold, no block has ever come off the stringer!
However, the occurrence of the gap cannot be prevented. This is due to the structure of wood and drying. It is a living product and contains growth rings and grain. When wood dries, moisture evaporates from the wood and releases space; the wood will shrink as a result. When the wood is sawn, it will warp in the direction of the inner ring. Because the wooden triangle on the stair beam is sawn at an angle from the wood, the grain at the tip of the triangle is very short. Shrinking causes the tip to warp and detach from the stair stringer. There is no risk of the gap pulling through further. even the strongest glue would not be able to prevent this because the glue would tear off with a thin layer of wood. If you still find it scary, you could screw an extra screw through the triangle in the stair beam. However, this is of little use, in most cases the head of the screw will pull further into the wood and may still warp. Such a gap is not a sign of poor quality and therefore no reason for a complaint. It is simply the result of the structure and properties of wood.

What is the rise angle of a staircase?
The rise angle of a staircase indicates how steeply the staircase rises. You may recognise it from maths in school.
A rise angle of 0° degrees means that the stairs do not rise, i.e. a flat floor.
With a rise angle of 90°, the stairs would go straight up like a wall.
Our standard stair stringers have a rise angle of 37° degrees.
An XL stair stringer has a rise angle of 19° degrees.
I am looking for a stair higher than 7 steps, now what?
You can connect several stair stringers by using extension supports or a landing. Or you put 1 or more modular steps under the stair stringer so that it stands higher.
